2016 National Playwrights Symposium Announces Master Playwrights
(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage brings the National Playwrights Symposium to Cape May for the forth-consecutive year.  The Symposium brings talented emerging and professional playwrights together with some of the world's most renowned artists for four days of workshops and private sessions with master playwrights. The symposium is set to gather 20 writers and 4 master playwrights May 15 through May 19.
 
This year the participants will learn from playwrights:
 Jon Robin Baitz author of Other Desert Cities, which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist.
 José Rivera a recipient of two Obie Awards for playwriting for Marisol and References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, which were both, produced by The Public Theater in New York.
 Steven Dietz is one of America's most widely produced and published contemporary playwrights. His thirty-plus plays have been at over one hundred regional theatres in the Untied States.
 Christopher Durang won the 2013 Best Play Tony Award for his play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike
 
Over the course of five days, they will experience intensive playwriting sessions, including rigorous writing workshops and discussions of the art, craft and business of playwriting, concluding with a staged readings of participant's works.
 
At the core of the symposium participating writers will have the opportunity to have their work read by actors and critiqued by the master playwrights. The master playwrights will also meet with the writers for a one on one discussion about their work.
