Count Basie Theatre Announces Three Scholarships To Be Awarded At Annual Basie Awards(RED BANK, NJ) -- The Count Basie Theatre has announced three arts impact scholarships to be awarded at the 10th annual Basie Awards, the theatre's celebration and recognition of excellence and achievement in high school theatre, taking place on Wednesday, May 20. Tickets to this year's 'Basies' go on sale Friday, March 13th at noon through thebasie.org, phone charge at 732-842-9000 and the theatre box office.

Last year's Basies marked the debut of the Moser Taboada Arts Impact Scholarship, made possible by the Moser Taboada law firm in Shrewsbury. This year, two additional scholarships will be awarded – the Monmouth Medical Center - Barnabas Health Arts Impact Scholarship and the Monmouth County Freeholders' Basie Scholarship for Continuing Education.

Each scholarship is open to Monmouth County high school seniors aged 19 years or younger, whose lives, academic, and career choices have been impacted by the arts. The Monmouth County Freeholders' scholarship will be awarded only to a student attending a New Jersey-based college in the fall. Students may apply for all three scholarships by visiting thebasie.org, filling out the application form and creating an official entry packet, consisting of an essay, resume and three personal recommendations.

"Our law firm is an intellectual property law firm that uses copyrights, patents and trademarks to protect the intellectual property of authors, actors, musicians and inventors," said Moser Toboada partner Ray Moser. "We see creative and innovative ideas that arise from being engaged in creative and artistic activities. This scholarship is our way to give back to the community and encourage creativity and life-long learning."

"The Freeholders are pleased to partner with the Count Basie Theatre in its efforts to provide arts education to the community," said Freeholder Lillian Burry. "Our Arts Impact Scholarships will truly benefit students who recognize the importance of the arts in everyday life and will reward them for their commitment to continue their education in the State of New Jersey."

"Like the Count Basie Theatre, Monmouth's Medical Center is dedicated to creating and maintaining strong community partnerships. It is part of our vision to be a leader in forming collaborative relationships with other providers in service to our community and we are exceedingly proud to offer the Monmouth Medical Center-Barnabas Health Arts Impact Scholarship."

"We are honored to connect these scholarships to the annual Basie Awards," said Count Basie Theatre Chairman Tom Widener. "The Basies has become a valued awards ceremony that recognizes not just outstanding high school drama performances, but also the impact the arts can have on a student moving towards higher education."
