Grateful Dead was a band from California that gained a cult-like fanbase from their live shows. Formed in the sixties, the band had released about dozen albums before this one. Their songs were always played on rock radio, but the band never had a top 40 hit until this album and "Touch of Grey" cracked the top 10.
The Grateful Dead was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
