The Cars were formed in Boston in the late 1970s. They were one of the most popular synth-driven new wave bands and remained popular and influential into the MTV age. In fact, their video for "You Might Think" from this album won Video of the Year at the first MTV Video Music Awards. "Heartbreak City" had several additional hit tracks including "Magic", "Drive", "Hello Again", "Why Can't I Have You?", and the title track.
The Cars was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
