U2 is a rock band from Dublin, Ireland that released their first record in 1980. It's fair to say they are one of a handful of bands that literally changed my life.
I was lucky to have a friend who used to grab records from the "import bin" at the record store long before anyone else I knew did. He turned me on to U2 very early on and my love for the band grew with each release.
They are the alt-rock world's equivalent of The Beatles.
This album was a complete reinvention of the band's sound and identity. One of several times they would do that throughout their career and one of several defining albums for them.
U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
