U2 is a rock band from Dublin, Ireland that released their first record in 1980. It's fair to say they are one of a handful of bands that literally changed my life.
I was lucky to have a friend who used to grab records from the "import bin" at the record store long before anyone else I knew did. He turned me on to U2 very early on and my love for the band grew with each release.
Listening to "I Will Follow" on the radio recently made me realize that if U2 had only released that one single, it would still be played every day somewhere forty years later. That's one of many songs in their catalog that will be played somewhere every day until the end of time.
They are the alt-rock world's equivalent of The Beatles.
U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
