U2 is a rock band from Dublin, Ireland that released their first record in 1980. It's fair to say they are one of a handful of bands that literally changed my life.
I was lucky to have a friend who used to grab records from the "import bin" at the record store long before anyone else I knew did. He turned me on to U2 very early on and my love for the band grew with each release.
They are the alt-rock world's equivalent of The Beatles.
"Under a Blood Red Sky" is my all-time favorite live album and I honestly can't imagine that ever changing... ironically, the concert was recorded on my birthday - something I never knew until many years later.
U2 was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.
