There are few bands to ever define an era like R.E.M. - Coming out of the Athens, Georgia scene, their jangly guitar style was like a modern version of The Byrds and led to countless bands following their lead.
R.E.M. was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
