Lou Reed was an artist from New York. Previously in The Velvet Underground, Lou had great songs as a solo artist in the 70s and 80s. This album came out at the end of the 80s and was arguably the best of his career. It was the only tour I ever saw him on. I'll never forget the way he was determined to play the album straight through despite people constantly requesting his hits. If those people were real fans who had listened to this album before the show they'd probably have let Lou do as he wanted. It's a brilliant album.
Lou was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015 as a solo artist after being previously inducted with The Velvet Undergound in 1996.

It has since grown to a nearly month-long event featuring opera, musical theater, baroque and chamber music, and a constantly evolving selection of other genres, including dance, world music, orchestral pops, and choral concerts.
