Keith Monacchio
"The Long Evening"

Released in 2010

Keith Monacchio is a singer-songwriter from Trenton, New Jersey. He's one of my favorite songwriters and this album always reminded me of the first album I ever heard from him. This was like what happened to those character as the years and life went on. Almost like a sequel.

That earlier album was by The Commons and this one was his first as a solo artist.  It's an album about growing older, looking at one's place in life, and peering over to the other side of the bed to see if it's empty or not.  As someone the same age as Keith, this album meant a lot to me.  It came in as #12 in my list of Top 100 Albums by New Jersey Artists from 2001-2010.  I said it ranks up there with John Lennon’s Double Fantasy and Bruce Springsteen’s Tunnel Of Love as the best albums to tear down the defenses that artists normally try to hide.  It’s damn near perfect.
