Huey Lewis and the News is a band from San Francisco, California that had a hit in 1982 with the song "Do You Believe in Love" but I don't think anyone could have seen the success that would come with their next album, Sports. It basically owned the radio in 1984-85 with four top ten singles, a few other singles and radio tracks, and sales of over 8 million copies.
This is another band who benefited greatly from exposure on MTV. Videos for singles like "I Want A New Drug", "If This Is It", and "The Heart of Rock & Roll" were constantly in heavy rotation.
The Makin Waves Song of the Week is "Spiral Will," a single and video from "Fading Failing Ruin," the latest album from doomy Jersey Shore dirt metal greats Solace.
