Crown Jewels
"Strawberry Velvet Fifty Cent Shoes"

Released in 1999

Crown Jewels was a band featuring Steven and John Conte (two artists who grew up in New Jersey and had time in many NJ acts from Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes to Glen Burtnick). I missed out on this band when they were around in the 1990s, but got into them years later. This song is my favorite of theirs.

(BELMAR, NJ) -- "Are you going to write about the show?" I was asked at the Belmar Arts Center. To be honest, I hadn’t gone to the show planning to write about it. The show was billed as "Tony Tedesco & Friends" and featured Tony with Keith Monacchio and Lou Montesano - three guys you might have been able to see each week at The Saint 20 years ago.
