Mellencamp followed up his breakthrough album "John Cougar" with a solid release that included several hits and furthered his growth as a songwriter. He was a favorite of MTV and this album inspired MTV to run a contest to have one person win a "pink house" in honor of the song.
John Mellencamp was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
