Folk/punk singer-songwriter Sammy Kay released two new singles on June 27, 2022 - "Letter To My Former Self" and a reimagining of Bad Religion's 1993 single "Don't Pray On Me" as a digital 7" entitled Aid & Abet. All proceeds from sales of the single will go to Women Have Options Ohio, a statewide abortion fund in Kay's current home state.
New Jersey-born Sammy Kay has lived a life most folks romanticize; full of highs, lows, life, death, and stories for days. Kay, now situated on the Ohio/Kentucky border, has been crafting his unique storytelling, with nods to the greats from his hometown, while finding his own unique voice within the never-ending white lines of the interstate highway system.
Both singles are available for streaming and to purchase at Bandcamp. They were recorded by Jay Duckworth at DIY Surgery, mixed and mastered by Scotty Sandwich at The Sandwich Shop. Here is his original song, "letter to my former self".
Here is his cover of "don’t pray on me" by Brett Gurewitz and originally performed by Bad Religon.
The photograph was taken by Ben Michaelis at the June 24th protest in Cincinnati Ohio. For more on Sammy Kay, you can follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
"I'm doing real good today; it's a beautiful day here in Nashville. I just took a little walk around the neighborhood, the flowers are blooming, it's a no coat day and it looks like we are heading into spring."
