Carly Simon’s Grammy Hall of Fame nugget “You’re So Vain” is as great a mystery as it is a song. Years ago, she revealed that one of the three men who inspired the pop classic was one-time Hollywood player Warren Beatty. But she never publicly divulged the other two inspirations, not even in her 2015 memoir, “Boys in the Trees,” except to confirm that it wasn’t rumored Mick Jagger, who sings an uncredited backing vocal on the original track.

Well, it’s no mystery why “You’re So Vain” is within the repertoire of Taylor Simon King, a celebration also of troubadours James Taylor and Carole King. Their cover is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week and Year, “You’re So Vain” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Jan. 7 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com

“I think the artists and their catalog of music speak for themselves. You simply can’t go wrong. What’s magical about this catalog of music is that it doesn’t get old. I don’t feel music fatigue from this material, and so I enjoy everything I sing in this show. Thank God so far we’ve received nothing but rave reviews,” said Lisa Sherman, the star of Taylor Simon King who produces the show with her husband, Franke Previte, an Oscar-winning songwriter for the 1987 film “Dirty Dozen.”

About playing the new arts center, Lisa said, “It’s an incredible state-of-the-art performance venue, and I can’t wait to play this show there on 1/21/2022.”

Franke added, “I truly feel once people in Carteret and the surrounding areas start becoming regulars there, the theater will become a staple theatrical and musical destination.”

Taylor Simon King also will play March 19 at The Vogel Theatre in Red Bank.
