Veteran Jersey rocker Carolyn Marosy (Sulkweed, RAW) has released a video for the title track of her acclaimed solo EP, “Loners, Misfits and Rebels.”

The anthemic tune is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, ““Loners, Misfits and Rebels” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on May 24 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.

When Carolyn went into the studio, she said she thought about her audience and the people to whom she has always felt closest.

"This song is an anthem for those of us who never quite fit in,” she said. "Growing up, I always knew I was different. A 12-year-old girl playing rock ‘n’ roll electric guitar wasn't common when I was a kid. I decided to take that feeling of alienation, turn it into unity and celebrate our uniqueness".

The video mainly was created through a request for photos from fans who see themselves as loners, misfits and rebels.

The resulting clip tells many stories within a simple concept.

"My music isn't just about me,” Carolyn said. “It's about people. People from all walks of life who have survived the worst of times and see themselves as survivors. This record is for them."

Carolyn also has been involved in work on the big screen. She is featured in the documentary, “On Resistance Street,” an in-depth examination of the role music plays in the fight against fascism and racism.

Last fall, Carolyn helped promote the film in Belfast, including a gig at Voidoo, the premier rock venue in Northern Ireland.

“It went fantastic!” she said. “I also went to London in April for another screening of the film, and a gig at the legendary Troubadour! We are working on setting up a screening in New Jersey, and it’s been submitted for the Woodstock Film Festival.”

Carolyn will open and play guitar for Christine Martucci and the Band of Love at their annual Pride show on June 1 at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park. She’ll also play June 30 at Rock Da Casbah in Saugerties, N.Y.
