V. Shayne Frederick & Co: A Joyful Jazzy Holiday at Lyceum Hall

(BURLINGTON, NJ) -- On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the City of Burlington, Mayor Barry Conaway, and Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts' co-artistic directors, Barbara Fisher and Patty Howard will welcome the V. Shayne Frederick Trio for a Joyful Jazzy Holiday! Showtime is 6:30pm.

Headliner, V. Shayne Frederick, is a vocalist, pianist, recording artist, composer and educator with performances spanning two decades. He has been featured at TEDx, NPR, a multitude of music fests, museums, and jazz clubs throughout the country, in addition to curating weekly musical series at South Jazz Kitchen and JG Skyhigh, Four Seasons Comcast within the last few years.

Tickets are $25 for general seating and $20 for groups of five or more/students/seniors and are available for purchase online. Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts is located at 432 High Street in Burlington, New Jersey.

An ASCAP member, V. Shayne also scores for film and commercial. One animated short film he scored, “Testimony,” has garnered critical acclaim and screenings internationally, winning an award at the Black Star Film Festival. His musical production work has appeared in Visit Philadelphia commercials and other film media.

V. Shayne has been cited by the Broad Street Review as “one of the region’s busiest and best jazz singers,” appointed “one to watch” and a “shining light” by All About Jazz, and called “soulful” in Downbeat Magazine. According to WRTI, “Frederick [...] could sing about breakfast cereal and make me believe in a higher power,” and according to WXPN, “his stunning baritone effortlessly soars; sometimes a seductive whisper, sometimes an exuberant belt.”He has performed as orator touring nationally with

Ruth Naomi Floyd’s Frederick Douglass Jazz Works, (“the gifted oration of V. Shayne Frederick whose believable vocal portrayal is exactly as I have imagined young Frederick would have sounded,” WHYY) and keyboardist/arranger/vocalist for former Philadelphia Poet Laureate Yolanda Wisher’s band, Yolanda Wisher & the Afroeaters, whose debut album will be released in 2022. His vocals were featured on recent projects by Nicholas Krolak (Voice Equals Power, Outside In Records) and Paul Giess (Hymns: Vol. 1, Ropeadope Records,) among a myriad feature vocal appearances.

Shayne will be joined by their Director of Youth Programs, Christine Petrini and some of the students from the Lyceum Studio! Ms Petrini is a singer, actor, songwriter/lyricist, and teaching artist. She is co-founder of the Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival and Founder of the children’s duo Big Idea Committee. Christine and The Lyceum Studio Holiday Singers will open for V. Shayne to share some holiday favorites to celebrate the season! After having performed in the Burlington City holiday parade the week prior, the student singers will share the stage with their theatre teacher to perform their rendition of "Hot Chocolate"! This delightfully uptempo song from the popular movie, The Polar Express, will create a truly magical holiday experience! Ms. Petrini will also share the stage with V Shayne for three holiday songs joining together their exceptional voices to bring us into the holiday spirit!

Lyceum Hall Center for the Arts  serves as a central body to promote, develop, stimulate, and encourage arts, artists, art organizations, and successfully collaborate with art organizations throughout New Jersey. Built in 1837 and fully restored in 2009, the venue includes an intimate 125-seat theater, galleries, dance and art studios. Located near Exit 5 of NJ Turnpike, near the Delaware River and the Burlington-Bristol Bridge, and one block from River Line light rail station, Lyceum Hall is ADA compliant.
