Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes and Blackberry Smoke Among Acts for 2024 Rock, Ribs, and Ridges Festival

originally published: 04/14/2024

(AUGUSTA, NJ) -- The music line-up has been announced for the 2024 Rock, Ribs, and Ridges Festival, a weekend of the best in southern/classic rock bands and finger-licking barbecue and fixin's June 28-30 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. Acts include Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Molly Hatchet, Blackberry Smoke, Artimus Pyle, The Outlaws, Larkin Poe, and more.

Headlining the bands that will appear Friday evening are the legendary Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, possibly with a special Jersey guest star.  Opening will be Sugar Mountain, which brings to life the Neil Young concert experience, covering all of the best-known hits and deep cuts.

Continuous music begins Saturday afternoon at 1 with the Matt Coffy Band and their signature blend of Southern-fried boogie rock, followed by ZZ Top tribute band Sharp Dressed Band.  Next, after a hugely successful world tour with Greta Van Fleet, Hannah Wicklund returns to the stage, bringing her ethereal texturing, smokey falsetto vocals, and guitar solos that carry equal parts pain and joy. Molly Hatchet, who cemented their place in music history in the late seventies with such hits as “Flirtin’ with Disaster” and “Gator Country” is next to hit the Optimum Main Stage. Blackberry Smoke will close the night, with songs from their album “You Hear Georgia,” which reached #1 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart, as well as the recently-released “Be Right Here.”

Sunday’s lineup opens with Six Gun Sally, paying homage to the greatest southern and classic rock bands of the 70s. Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famer Artimus Pyle, long considered the “wild man” of Lynyrd Skynyrd, brings to the stage his powerful and distinctive double bass drumming that helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound, followed by southern rock legends The Outlaws, known for their triple-guitar rock attack and three-part country harmonies, with songs from their new album “It’s About Pride.” The Festival closes with Grammy Award winners Larkin Poe, featuring Rebecca & Megan Lovell, multi-instrumentalist sisters who’ve been called the female Allman Brothers, creating their own brand of Roots Rock 'n Roll: gritty, soulful, and flavored by their southern heritage.

The Rock, Ribs, and Ridges Festival also features outstanding BBQ pitmasters, who bring their own regional and personal touches to recipes for ribs, sauces and lots of finger-licking sides.  This year’s line-up includes Cowboys BBQ, from Ft. Worth, TX; Chicago BBQ, Burr Ridge IL; Ribbins BBQ, Chambersburg, PA, and Off The Bone BBQ from Canal Winchester, OH.
