This was the album that America needed following 9/11. Bruce told the stories of the firefighters who risked their lives, the people who lost someone, and the nation who was suddenly lost in confusion. With the E Street Band back in the studio with him, these songs just sounded complete in a way the albums of the 90s failed to do.
It is one of Bruce's best albums, in my opinion. It's powerful and brings back a flood of memories every time I hear it. My favorites include "My City of Ruins", "Lonesome Day", "Empty Sky", "You're Missin", and "The Rising".
Bruce Springsteen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
The Makin Waves Song of the Week is "Blessing," the first single from Jersey Shore songstress Brielle Brown's forthcoming full-length debut album, "In Art & Soil the Same."
