Nirvana was a band from Seattle that formed in the late 1980s and would shape the music industry a few years later. Led by Kurt Cobain, the band became the face of grunge music and the top band in alt rock with the release of this album - their first on a major record label. It's fair to say it's among a very few albums to truly change music history.
Cobain died in 1994, becoming something akin to the Generation X's John Lennon.
Despite only being a band for a few years, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.
The Makin Waves Song of the Week is "Blessing," the first single from Jersey Shore songstress Brielle Brown's forthcoming full-length debut album, "In Art & Soil the Same."
