Indigo Girls are a folk rock duo (Amy Ray and Emily Saliers) from Atlanta, Georgia that formed in 1985. On my first day at the college radio station, I looked through the pile of records that had just come in and spotted their self-titled release. Looking through the credits I noticed one song had Peter Stipe on it, so I gave it a spin. To my surprise, the album was simply incredible. It remains one of my favorites and it always reminds me of college.
Years later, I had a great interview with Amy Ray where we talked a lot about radio and how college radio helped shape the band.
