(BLOOMFIELD, NJ) -- The inaugural Bloomfield Arts Crawl, a walkable community arts experience celebrating Bloomfield artists, creative spaces, cultural institutions and community, will take place Friday, October 9 from 10:00am-9:00pm and Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 10:00am-7:00pm. Centered around Bloomfield's historic Town Green, the Bloomfield Arts Crawl invites visitors to experience art beyond the walls of a traditional gallery.
Presented by the Sanctuary on the Green Arts, Cultural & Community Alliance (SOGA) in collaboration with the Township of Bloomfield and community partners, the Bloomfield Arts Crawl will bring the work of 15 participating artists, along with Bloomfield High School student artists, into 15 Bloomfield spaces for people of all ages to explore at their own pace, free of charge.
“Bloomfield is already filled with incredibly talented and creative people,” said Adam Cruz, SOGA board member, crawl organizer, and participating artist. “The Arts Crawl is really about making that creativity more visible, connecting artists with one another, and creating opportunities for the broader community to experience and celebrate the art that’s already being made right here. My hope is that the Arts Crawl becomes another step toward building an even stronger, more connected arts community in Bloomfield.”
The stops along the route will include artists’ studios, restaurants, cafés, community spaces, houses of worship and cultural institutions. Specific visiting hours for each location will vary. A map with venue-specific information will be available by October 1 at https://sanctuaryonthegreen.org/crawl/. Arts Crawl signs with QR codes are posted at all participating venues.
Participating artists include: Sierra Brown, Jasmine Caylor, Sheila Ciudadreal, Adam Cruz, Victoria Esquilin, Maria Luis Estrela, Oscar Marin, Patricia Marinaro, John S. Masi, Juan Carlos Mendez Oscar Marin, Moira Pernambuco, Josefina Rosario-Simone, Kassaye Selassie, Erick Stone, Peter C. Syak, Sheila Ciudadreal, and Sara Wolfe.
Participating venues include: Bloomfield College of Montclair State University (Scott H. Kaplan ’02 Art Gallery, Creative Arts & Technology), Bloomfield Civic Center (Bloomfield Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs), Bloomfield Presbyterian Church “Sanctuary on the Green” and Outdoor Labyrinth, Bloomfield Public Library, Bucco Italian American Kitchen, Every Day Grind Coffee Company, Lovlee Art Studios, Park United Methodist Church, Puppet Heap, Sacred Heart Church, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Studio Mickens, and Sweet Trail Vegan Café.

Bloomfield High School student artwork will be displayed at the historic Sanctuary on the Green, alongside a multichannel immersive audio installation, “Sacred Spatial #1,” commissioned by SOGA, and composed by Matthew Patterson Curry (Safety Scissors), during select hours.
Visitors to the Arts Crawl on Saturday, October 10 can also take part in Bloomfield's annual Harvest Fest in the town center.
The Sanctuary on the Green Arts, Cultural & Community Alliance (SOGA) was established by a group of passionate residents from Bloomfield and neighboring towns who recognized the pressing need for additional Arts, Cultural, and Community venues within Bloomfield.
These visionary individuals acknowledged the historical significance of the Sanctuary within the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green, understanding its pivotal role as a central gathering space for spiritual and civic events spanning almost 230 years.
Through a multi-faceted approach, they strive to preserve, restore, and revitalize the Sanctuary, ensuring its longevity for future generations while respecting its continued use as a sacred space.
