(GALLOWAY, NJ) -- Bill W. and Dr. Bob, a play detailing the inspirational true story that led to the creation of Alcoholics Anonymous, will be presented at the Stockton University Performing Arts Center on October 3, 2026 at 7:30pm.
The play, directed by actor, writer and producer Ronnie Marmo, tells the story of New York stockbroker Bill Wilson, who became a hopeless drunk after the 1929 crash of the stock market, and Dr. Bob Smith, a surgeon from Akron, Ohio, who was an alcoholic for 30 years and who often went into the operating room under the influence. The powerful and funny play also details the story of the duo's wives who founded Al-Alon.
The play was written by Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey.
Tickets are $40 for the public, $38 for seniors (65+) and military, $35 for Stockton alumni, $33 for Stockton faculty and staff, $25 for youth (17 and under) and $12 for Stockton students. Group rates are also available. Tickets are available for purchase online, by calling 609-652-9000 or in person at the PAC box office, which is open from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Tuesday through Friday and 90 minutes before any scheduled show.
