Curate NJ presents - A Lifetime: Year 50 with Michael DiMaio

Published by New Jersey Stage

originally published: 09/18/2026

(RARITAN, NJ) -- Curate NJ presents an exhibition of work by artist Michael DiMaio, celebrating his 50th year and marking an important milestone: his first-ever solo show. The show runs throughout the months of October and November with an opening on Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Year 50 brings together a selection of Michael DiMaio's work spanning his artistic life, alongside a collection of new pieces. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to consider where the artist has been, what he has observed, and how those experiences shape the way he sees the world today. It is both retrospective and contemporary.

Originally from Jersey City, Michael DiMaio is a painter, and portrait artist whose artistic education began at the DuCret School of Art. While there, DiMaio received numerous awards and scholarships, and graduated as valedictorian.

Today, DiMaio works primarily on commission and specializes in photorealistic portraiture, bringing a highly developed understanding of the human body and human expression to his practice. Works from different periods of DiMaio's career demonstrate his development as an artist.

Despite his years of artistic achievement, DiMaio has never before presented a solo exhibition devoted to his work. Therefore, this represents not only a celebration of his 50th year, but also a significant moment in his career.
