Jersey City Theater Center presents "Miss Bellas" on October 3rd

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Jersey City Theater Center presents Miss Bellas on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at White Eagle Hall. It is a 60–75 minute original music-theater work that explores fame, class division, cultural erasure, and moral responsibility. Showtime is 7:30pm.

Set inside "the Wall," an aristocratic haven in a dystopian society, Miss Bellas follows a global icon at the height of her fame. Far removed from the life she once knew, she presides over an annual "Give Back" gala, a lavish spectacle of philanthropy that masks something far less generous. When unrest rises beyond the Wall, her loyal assistant is pressured to turn her into a symbol of revolution, forcing a confrontation that challenges loyalty, identity, and survival. The production features original music, a bilingual (English/Spanish) script, and a dynamic projection design that transforms the stage into a glamorous performance space and haunting reflection of the world beyond the Wall.

The cast includes Giselle Bellas (Miss Bellas), AJ Morales (Francisco), Bryan De Souza (Jose), and Celeste Landa (Veronica "Vero").

The performance will include surprise appearances by fellow Jersey City artists, Florianna Heun and Marisol Medina. "Miss Bellas examines what happens when success distances us from responsibility," says Giselle. "It asks whether transformation is still possible once power becomes identity and whether performance can ever replace truth."

Miss Bellas is at the peak of her fame. She lives inside the Wall, a physical and ideological boundary separating the aristocracy from the impoverished lower class beyond it. Cloistered by her success, Miss Bellas has become ignorant of the realities she once knew. Her annual give-back event, *The Bellas Benefaction*, is ostensibly charitable but has grown increasingly hollow, serving more as a public relations exercise and cash grab than a genuine act of solidarity.

Her long-suffering, emotionally conflicted assistant is caught between two worlds. He remembers Miss Bellas as she once was—a struggling artist deeply connected to her culture. At the same time, he is pressured by a group from outside the Wall to make an example of her, arguing that her fame has made her the perfect symbol of betrayal, privilege, and excess.

As the evening unfolds, what begins as a carefully curated arts showcase transforms into a psychological and moral pressure cooker. The assistant is forced to choose between loyalty, memory, survival, and revolution.

Giselle Bellas is a versatile performer and writer whose work seamlessly blends elements of opera, pop, Latin music, and musical theater. Born to Cuban immigrants, she splits time between Orlando and Jersey City, where she regularly collaborates with the local arts community. Giselle's unique storytelling through music has been showcased on FX, HBO, Netflix, and PBS. Her band is made up of Broadway musicians, Grammy nominees, and internationally touring artists.
