George Street Playhouse presents "The Unexpected 3rd"


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- George Street Playhouse presents The Unexpected 3rd, written by and starring Kathryn Grody (A Mom's Life), and directed by Timothy Near (A Doll's House, Part 2). Previews begin October 13, 2026, at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center with opening night set for October 16, for a run through November 1, 2026.

Mason Gross School of the Arts presents AJAYE in concert on October 1st


(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Mason Gross School of the Arts is set to host a live concert by Nashville-based acoustic singer-songwriter AJAYE on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. The free concert of original music, which will also include a short performance by a Rutgers music student, singer-songwriter Sam Tunkel, will take place at the intimate Victoria J. Mastrobuono Theater, part of the Mason Gross Performing Arts Center on the Douglass Campus.

Creative OPERAtions and 3BR Distillery serve up a "Distilled" version of Bizet's "Carmen" on September 18th


(KEYPORT, NJ) -- This September, Creative OPERAtions and 3BR Distillery are serving opera a little differently. Bite-Sized Opera: Just a Taste of Carmen comes to 3BR Distillery in Keyport on Friday, September 18, 2026, offering audiences a "distilled" version of Bizet's Carmen filled with unforgettable music, theatrical storytelling, tarot imagery, and a dash of the unexpected. Doors open at 6:30pm, showtime is 7:00pm.

Film Review - "The Whisper Man"


Director James Ashcroft gave John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush two of their more interesting recent roles in 2025's The Rule of Jenny Pen. Any hopes that the Kiwi filmmaker might similarly rejuvenate the career of Robert De Niro with The Whisper Man should be immediately dispelled. Here De Niro plays as bland a stock character as any uninspired screenwriter could conjure, the haunted ex-cop whose obsession with the one case he couldn't fully solve has destroyed his family life and left him alone to stare at the crime scene map he keeps pinned to his living room wall.
