(RED BANK, NJ) -- Phoenix Productions presented Rock of Ages from July 10-12, 2026 at Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank. The fun musical takes you back to the time of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.
Rock of Ages takes place at the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality.
Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ’n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.
The cast included Joey Maher (Drew), Riley Martin (Sherrie), Billy Mills (Lonny), John Griffin (Dennis), Marc Goldberg (Stacee Jaxx), Ericka Davis (Justice), Daniel Cancel (Franz), Reagan White (Regina), Anthony Viera (Hertz), Ariel J Sanchez-Bello (Ja'Keith Gill), Hudson Eder (Joey Primo), Marisa Jean Giachetti (Constance), Dennis Tolentino (Mayor/Father), Tar Hines (Mother), and Lindsay Paige Spitzer (Waitress #1).
The Venus Dancers were Elizabeth Bera, Gabriel Angel Valle, Jannette (Jsa) Fish, Jess Bennett, Juliet Hounsell,and Tiffany Quinby. The Ensemble included Alexa Wessel, Jesse Samay, Jessica Amber, Kyle Kennedy, and Nasir Roper.
Rock of Ages opened on Broadway on April 7, 2009 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it played for 2,328 performances. At the time of its closing, Rock of Ages was the 29th longest-running show in Broadway history.
For over 35 years, Phoenix Productions has been dedicated to the mission of providing quality theatrical experiences on both sides of the footlights. Since its first production in 1988, they’ve produced over 100 main stage shows providing on-stage and back stage opportunities for thousands of talented volunteers.
