(ORADELL, NJ) -- Bergen County Players (BCP) will open auditions for The Producers on June 9th, 11th, and 13th. BCP is seeking a dynamic cast of strong comic actors who sing and move well to play main, supporting, and featured ensemble roles for its 94th season opener. The Producers is a satirical musical comedy and farce about two unlikely partners—a scheming, larger-than-life Broadway producer and a timid, anxious accountant—who set out to make the worst Broadway show ever and end up creating a surprise hit.

With music and lyrics by the legendary Mel Brooks and a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, this Tony and Grammy award-winning musical features a stunning array of beloved, hilarious songs, including “I Wanna Be a Producer” and the infamous “Springtime for Hitler.” BCP’s production will be directed by Alan Demovsky.

Tuesday, June 9 @ 7:00pm; Thursday, June 11 @ 7:00pm; Saturday, June 13 @ 10:00am; Sunday, June 15 @ 7:00pm (Callbacks by invitation only)

GENERAL CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

BCP is looking for actors with bold comic instincts, strong facial expressiveness, and a willingness to look ridiculous. Tap skills, dialects, physical comedy/slapstick, improvisation, and tight harmony singing are useful "bonus" skills. The ensemble in this show carries a surprising amount of humor and features fast transformers who can execute quick costume, energy, and physical shifts.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

MAX BIALYSTOCK Seeking male presenting actor. Loud, larger-than-life, fast-talking, and manipulative. Always selling, scheming, and morally flexible, yet oddly charismatic. Terrified that his best days are behind him. Strong singer and must move well; can be extemporaneous. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: A2, High: F#4.

LEO BLOOM Seeking male presenting actor. A timid, anxious, painfully earnest accountant whose life is built on rules, caution, and avoiding attention. Highly anxious, prone to panic, and morally upright. Strong singing voice, must move well, and must be capable of learning tap. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: A2, High: F4.

FRANZ LIEBKIND Seeking male presenting actor. A wildly eccentric, emotionally volatile former Nazi soldier turned obsessive pigeon keeper who has written the musical Springtime for Hitler. Paranoid, childlike, socially bizarre, and hungry for validation. Strong voice, moves well, and excellent comic timing. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: F2, High: G4.

ROGER DeBRIS Seeking male presenting actor. A flamboyant, self-involved, extravagantly theatrical director who treats life as a performance. Good voice, strong comic chops, and moves well. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: G#2, High: G4.

CARMEN GHIA Seeking male presenting actor. The elegant, hyper-efficient, endlessly devoted assistant and companion to Roger De Bris. Strong voice. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: C3, High: A4.

ULLA INGA HANSEN BENSON YONSEN TALLEN-HALLEN SVADEN-SWANSON Seeking female presenting actor. Strikingly glamorous, confident, optimistic, and energetic. Unfiltered, direct, sensual, and playful. Strong singer and comic actor. Age: Flexible. Voice: Low: A3, High: G5.

ENSEMBLE / FEATURED ROLES

Some ensemble members will be asked to play more than one role. Seeking distinct character types to execute quick physical transformations into eccentric New Yorkers, investors, auditioners, prisoners, and production staff.

STORM TROOPER: Tenor soloist in “Springtime for Hitler”. Range: B flat 3 — A flat 4.
