(LEONIA, NJ) -- Liberty Arts Theatre presents "I Know What I Give My Life For" (The Short Life Of Walter Klingenbeck) on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at American Legion Post #1 in Leonia. Admission is free, showtime is 7:30pm. The production is presented by Roland Weimer.
Walter Kingenbeck was 19 years of age when he was executed by the Nazi regime for painting "V" signs in Munich and for listening to enemy radio broadcasts. This is the little known story of a devout Catholic boy and a resistance group. A story of courage, conviction and incredible calm when faced with death.
American Legion Post #1 is located at 399 Broad Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey. The production is part of the America 250 celebration at Liberty Arts Theatre, a group of local, community-oriented, theatre artists and lovers of art from Bergen County.
Founded by Leonia native, Alison Miller, Liberty Arts is a community-oriented collective dedicated to the development and production of performance art in Bergen County, New Jersey. They love all art including music, dance, theatre, film, painting and more. And they do not discriminate based upon political division. They respect peoples' right to privacy and will never ask for personal information.
They believe art can entertain but also seek the truth. They love to perform and put on a show but, they're not afraid to ask tough questions. They choose to honor and embrace older traditions while fostering the development of new voices. They do not limit themselves. They remain open to possibility.
