The Makin Waves Song of the Week is “Fairweather Friends“ by Central Jersey rockers Exit Eleven.
After a long hiatus, the Central Jersey band Exit Eleven are back with a new single that they will celebrate the release of on May 8 at Asbury Park’s fabled Stone Pony.
“Fairweather Friends“ is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Fairweather Friends“ also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on May 8 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin, Mixcloud and RadioJersey.net.
“It’s a pretty monumental event for us to headline a venue like the Pony,” guitarist Mike Casciano said. “We're totally DIY, passionate about our music, and very excited about the opportunity to share it with a larger audience in 2026.”
“Fairweather Friends” is Exit Eleven’s first release in nearly a decade.
The upbeat song is perfect for cranking loud while driving with the windows down.
“The track explores themes of wanting to balance the expression of desire to a person, while at the same time not wanting to be a bother or a burden, walking that delicate tightrope between showing attention and giving someone their space,” Mike said.
Formed in late 2001, Exit Eleven also is Scott Cook on vocals, Phil Altieri on drums, and Darren Finkel on bass.
In addition to their previous singles, “We Need to Know,” “Without Love” and “In My Way,” they will play other originals, as well as a handful of covers by Pearl Jam and Mumford & Sons.
Sharing the bill at the Pony will be the grunge cover band Blame Montana, Asbury alt-rockers The Nova Drones, local metal band Kiloton and hip hop-spiced moody popsters Urosa.
If you can’t make the show, listen to “Fairweather Friends” on Apple Musicand Spotify.
