"Luce Bay" by Christie Scheele
(LITTLE SILVER, NJ) -- Gallery Jupiter presents "The Immersive Landscape," a group of paintings by Christie Scheele, on display from April 30 through June 11, 2026. Whether viewers explore her open vista landscape paintings or her new, intimate assemblages, Christie creates environments that offer a powerful experience of nature.
Scheele's open vista landscapes feature broad areas of color, reflecting the tradition of color-field painting. She omits unnecessary details and reorders elements to create tranquil compositions. She employs smooth color transitions to shape forms, uses soft, scumbled edges, and often uses full-value contrasts.
With the Place Series, Scheele works directly in nature, gathering stones, bark, seaweed, leaves, and other natural fragments. After gaining an overview, she sits and observes with all her senses. The sounds, sights, tactile sensations, and smells influence her experience of place and shape her later studio work.

"Green Vertical Marsh" by Christie Scheele
“Since 2016, as nature has faced more challenges, the open, minimalist landscape paintings I have created for decades have been expanded and enriched through alternative methods, including mapping, vintage boxes and slates, graphite gridding and frayed linen, and, most recently, foraged natural materials," Christie Scheele.
“The Immersive Landscape” will open on Thursday, April 30th from 5:00pm to 7:30pm and run through Thursday, June 11th. Gallery Jupiter is located at 31 Church Street in Little Silver, New Jersey.
