
Duo Zuber: Greg Zuber, marimba, and Patricia Zuber, flute
(BLOOMFIELD, NJ) -- Multiple Grammy Award winning musicians Greg and Patricia Zuber, aka "Duo Zuber," will present an afternoon of French music for flute and marimba on Sunday, March 8, 2026 in Bloomfield's historic Sanctuary on the Green. Showtime is 3:00pm.
Duo Zuber will perform a program of French music by composers Massenet, Debussy, Satie, and Messiaen, adapted by Mr. Zuber for flute and marimba, including Debussy's masterpiece, "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun."
Duo Zuber consists of Greg Zuber on marimba and Patricia Zuber on flute. Greg Zuber is principal percussionist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and teaches at The Juilliard School. Patricia Zuber performs with major orchestras in the New York City area as well as the Santa Fe Opera.
Both artists are multiple Grammy Award winners for performances with the Metropolitan Opera.
Together, they have commissioned over twenty works for flute and marimba, greatly expanding the repertoire of this combination of instruments. They have recorded two albums, Blackbird Redux and Reimagined, Les Symbolistes: Debussy and Satie.
The concert is presented by the Sanctuary on the Green Alliance (SOGA), a secular not-for-profit organization working alongside the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green to restore the historic Sanctuary and promote its use as a center for arts, culture and community in the heart of Bloomfield. It is part of the "Sanctuary Sounds" series that brings live chamber music to Bloomfield Center.
The Sanctuary on the Green Arts, Cultural & Community Alliance (SOGA) was established by a group of passionate residents from Bloomfield and neighboring towns who recognized the pressing need for additional Arts, Cultural, and Community venues within Bloomfield.
These visionary individuals acknowledged the historical significance of the Sanctuary within the Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green, understanding its pivotal role as a central gathering space for spiritual and civic events spanning almost 230 years.
Through a multi-faceted approach, they strive to preserve, restore, and revitalize the Sanctuary, ensuring its longevity for future generations while respecting its continued use as a sacred space.
Their esteemed board members and dedicated volunteers boast diverse backgrounds and bring forth a wide range of expertise. Among their ranks, you will find professionals such as lawyers and paralegals, theater producers and managers, directors, artists and performers, as well as church pastors.
Their collective interests encompass the Arts, Cultural enrichment, Community outreach, historic preservation, and the exploration of local history.
Together, they are united by our unwavering commitment to promoting the Sanctuary as a thriving civic space, fostering a vibrant Arts and Cultural scene, and engaging with their Community in meaningful and impactful ways.
