Asbury Park Theater Company moves Remember Jones' 20-Piece Mad Dogs & Englishmen Celebration to Count Basie Center

Surprise venue upgrade supports the special demand from audience and production quality

originally published: 01/22/2026

(RED BANK, NJ) -- Join Asbury Park Theater Company as they celebrate Joe Cocker's groundbreaking live album and tour, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, on Saturday, February 14, 2026 on the Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre stage at the Count Basie Center for the Arts. The show, previously announced as a two-night event at Ocean Grove's Jersey Shore Arts Center, makes a sudden surprise move to the Basie due to special demand and limitations for audience and production at the OG venue. An exciting move for the growing and evolving theater company, this is the first time Remember Jones will bring this show to the Basie stage.

Serving as a dedication to Joe Cocker and Leon Russell, the show will be recreated with a 20-piece band in similar style of the original tour including, for your delight, Cosmic Kiddies, English Roadies, Children with the Answers, Cooking Italians, Presidents of Recording Companies, Acrobatics and Displays, The Odd Sane Dog, The Space Choir, Assorted Sound Freaks, and All Elements of the Truth.

This event will feature guests and full choir, including all songs from the entire tour beyond those on the original album release, with large interpretations of songs by rock and soul greats including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Leonard Cohen, Traffic, Leon Russell, and more. Songs from the original tour include: “With a Little Help from My Friends,’ “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window,” “Let It Be,” “Feelin’ Alright,” “Honky Tonk Women,” “Cry Me a River,” “Darling Be Home Soon,” “Delta Lady”, "The Letter", and many other favorites.

Different from previously announced Ocean Grove shows, tickets buyers now have the opportunity to choose their seats, including a special VIP Pre-Show set with the band and Meet and Greet with Remember Jones. This allows 6:30pm entry and a 7:00pm performance, before full doors at 7:30 for the 8:00pm performance.

Previous ticket buyers received an email with a pre-sale code and refunds to tickets purchased through TicketLeap for original shows. Tickets are available for purchase online starting Friday, January 23rd at 10:00am. Count Basie Center for the Arts is located at 99 Monmouth Street in Red Bank, New Jersey.
