Monmouth County Flag Day 5K

(FREEHOLD, NJ) -- The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners and the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee announced that registration for the Stars & Strides Flag Day 5K & 1-Mile Freedom Walk is open! The race will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Bell Works (101 Crawfords Corner Road) in Holmdel.

“As an avid runner, I can’t think of a more exciting way to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday than with a patriotic, high-energy event like the Stars & Strides Flag Day 5K & 1-Mile Freedom Walk,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, Co-Chair of the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee. “We invite everyone to sign up for this once-in-a-lifetime race and wear plenty of red, white, and blue as we honor our incredible country during this historic milestone.”

“The MonmouthNJ 250 Committee has been working tirelessly to prepare for this monumental anniversary, organizing special events such as the Stars & Strides Flag Day 5K and 1-Mile Freedom Walk,” said Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, Co-Chair of the MonmouthNJ 250 Committee. “We encourage everyone to participate in this signature race and explore the many other programs planned throughout 2026. For updates and a complete schedule of events, visit monmouthnj250.org.”

Registration is $30 for the 5K and 1-Mile Freedom Walk and will increase to $35 after May 14. Event T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who register by May 14. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three runners in 14 age groups. The 1-Mile Freedom Walk is a non-timed event.

This race benefits the Friends of the Monmouth County Park System, a charitable organization that provides financial support exclusively for Monmouth County Park System enhancements, including preserving historical and natural resources, providing recreational opportunities for urban youth, and providing activities for individuals with disabilities within the community.
