originally published: 12/13/2025

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Great Music on the Morristown Green presents the acclaimed Parallel Brass Quintet in concert on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Morristown United Methodist Church. Parallel Brass is a group of diverse musicians and music educators who possess a wide range of musical skills and expertise, including classical, jazz, Latin, and many other genres. Showtime is 3:00pm.

Founded in 2019, their members perform with renowned groups such as the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Broadway, New Jersey Symphony, Norwalk Symphony, and the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra.

Parallel’s aim is to deliver inspiring performances and dynamic educational experiences, captivating audiences with a unique repertoire that showcases marginalized and underrepresented composers.  Their December 21st concert, A Parallel Brass Christmas, will feature songs of the season and traditional carols in festive arrangements for brass quintet.

Admission is free and open to all.  A suggested donation of $20 would be welcome from those who are able. The Morristown United Methodist Church is located at 50 South Park Place in Morristown, New Jersey. The church is Handicap Accessible.

The concert will benefit the Festival International de Musique Saint-Georges, which honors Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (1745-1799), a great historical figure born in Guadeloupe. Bologne was Europe's greatest fencer and an exceptional military leader at the time of the French Revolution, but his true love was music.

In 18th century France, Bologne was recognized as a virtuoso violinist, conductor and composer. His operas, concertos, quartets, symphonies and sinfonia concertantes influenced the great composers of his day, including Franz Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Bologne’s life inspired iconic authors such as Alexandre Dumas. One of the most prestigious music festivals in the Caribbean, the Saint-Georges International Music Festival stands out as a unique emblem for diversity in the classical music world.

Parallel Brass is honored to be an ensemble in residence for the Festival, where they perform and work with youth programs in Guadeloupe and St Maarten, including the Festival's Young Artist Program, the All-Caribbean Youth Orchestra, and the National Institute for the Arts.
