(CRANFORD, NJ) -- Cranford resident and well-known musicologist and radio DJ Rich Russo (heard on multiple FM stations and SiriusXM) will host a series of Pop-Up Record and CD Sales in Cranford to benefit the families of Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, the 17-year-old girls tragically killed in Cranford.
The first two pop-up sales will take place at 109 North Union Avenue, Cranford, on:
* Saturday, October 18th from 10:00am to 4:00pm
* Sunday, October 19th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
100% of the proceeds from this weekend’s sales will go directly to the families of Maria and Isabella. Funds will be distributed through Cranford Family Care, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been supporting local families since 1936.
The retail space at 109 North Union Avenue has been generously donated by Rafi Namroud, owner of Old City Café and Grill (20 North Union Ave, Cranford).
Russo shared how the effort came together: “Ever since the tragedy involving Maria and Isabella, I’ve been in a funk like everyone else in the area over the senselessness of it, and wanted to help in any way I could. I came across a large record collection at an estate sale here in town and decided to buy the entire thing with the goal of reselling it to raise money for the families. While having dinner at Old City, I mentioned it to Rafi, who kindly offered me one of his empty spaces to use for the pop-up. The space turned out to be much bigger than expected, so I’m encouraging anyone who wants to donate records or CDs—of any genre—to drop them off.”
Donations of records and CDs can be made on Friday, October 17th, between 2:00pm and 6:00pm at 109 North Union Avenue, as Russo and volunteers prepare for the weekend sales. Cranford Family Care will provide tax receipts for all donations and purchases.
