"Hold Up Your Star" by Ellen Reinkraut

(ENGLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Sandy Bennett Art Gallery at bergenPAC presents New Jersey's esteemed contemporary artist, Ellen Reinkraut with "Layered Contemporary Mixed Media." The exhibit showcases extraordinary unique layered art inspired by the mystical element of life. It is on display through August 2025.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, there will be an Artist Reception on Wednesday, July 16, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Admission to the reception is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to RSVP to [email protected].

Ellen Reinkraut is an accomplished painter, collage artist, and mixed-media creator whose contemporary work is showcased in museums, public spaces, and private collections internationally. She earned a BFA in Art Education at the University of Cincinnati and studied at the Art Students League in NYC. Ellen is a member of the National Association of Women Artists and the Society of Layerists, and she has been listed in "Who's Who" in American Art since 2007. As Ellen explains, "My creative process focuses on the layering of symbols, brushwork, and color. I am energized by both the subject and the painting process."

The Sandy Bennett Art Gallery at bergenPAC is open Monday through Friday from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The gallery is also accessible to ticket holders before concerts and by appointment. bergenPAC is located at 30 North Van Brunt Street in Englewood, New Jersey.

Ellen Reinkraut paints with a spiritual substance rooted in the soul and her paintings articulate her affirming views of life and the universe. She earned her BFA in Art Education at the University of Cincinnati. Her subsequent studies took place at the Art Students' League in New York City, and with professional artists Bruce Dorfman, Alex Grey, Norman Lewis and Hugh Mesibov.

Creative expression is a constant in Reinkraut's life. In both her painting and teaching, Reinkraut turns the autobiographical into personal metaphor and symbols, which she then makes into art. She inspires her students to do so as well. Reinkraut considers her painting and teaching her life's work. Reinkraut's paintings are included in myriad collections, from international to private, as well as museums.

The Sandy Bennett Art Gallery was established in memory of Sandy Bennett—a beloved and longtime employee of bergenPAC, an artist, and the former curator of the bergenPAC art gallery. Her passion for the arts and lasting contributions to the organization are honored through this dedicated space.Located on the mezzanine level of bergenPAC, the gallery is open to ticket holders on show evenings, during Box Office hours (Monday to Friday, 10:00am to 5:00pm), and by appointment.
