Excellent feature Broken Pieces screens at the 2025 New Jersey International Film Festival

Broken Pieces is a great film which looks at the many intertwining lives in New York City. Following multiple storylines which all eventually brush past or converge with each other, the film has the viewer constantly bouncing back and forth between different points in the city, mimicking the fast paced and mildly chaotic feeling of New York.

Each plotline is unique in their own way, but all focus on a pivotal message: the importance of human connection. All of the characters experience a journey of isolation in their own way and are forced to recognize their own strengths and faults, guided by the people around them. Each of the stories are incredibly rich, packed with realistic struggles, powerful plots, and lifelike characters who are very easy to connect with or even see yourself in. The unexpected twists and connections of characters makes the film feel incredibly realistic, and further points to the fact that life is not as simple as it appears to be.

I found Broken Pieces to be an incredibly captivating film, keeping me invested in each character and rooting for their happiness and success as life continuously threw twists and turns at them. The relatable and emotional ways in which these vignettes are portrayed is sure to spark feelings within viewers, especially the sentimental epilogue which left me feeling touched and felt like the perfect ending to such a beautiful story.

Broken Pieces screens at the 2025 New Jersey International Film Festival on Saturday, May 31st.  The film will be Online for 24 Hours and In-Person at 7 PM in Voorhees Hall #105/Rutgers University, 71 Hamilton Street, New Brunswick, NJ.
