Unravel a Mystery with 'Sherlock Holmes' at the Ocean County Library Brick Branch

(BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- A young woman meets an untimely end just before her sister's wedding. The bride-to-be has an uneasy feeling that she knows the culprit. Time to call the world's greatest detective! Don't miss award-winning actor Neill Hartley's solo performance Sherlock Holmes and the Speckled Band at the Ocean County Library Brick Branch on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. Showtime is 6:30pm.

The Adventure of the Speckled Band has often been cited as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s favorite among the 56 Holmes short stories he penned because of its intriguing characters, especially the marvelous villain. See Sherlock Holmes in his study, probing the mystery and follow him to a foreboding mansion where he must corner the killer and prevent another horrible crime.

Seasoned actor-director-educator Neill Hartley’s résumé features memorable series and documentaries including The Sixth Sense, House of Cards and First Freedom. The Barrymore Award winner’s stage credits include performances with The Arden Theatre Company, InterAct Theatre Company and the Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival.

Neill also serves as the artistic director of Acting without Boundaries, the inclusive troupe that changes lives through performing arts programs for young adults with disabilities. He devoted 30 years to arts and speech instruction as a faculty member of Philadelphia’s University of the Arts.

(HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Stargazer Performing Arts will present the inaugural Jersey Shore Young Playwrights Festival on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Duncan Smith Theater in Holmdel. This is a brand-new celebration of emerging talent from teen writers across Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. The festival will showcase original plays written by students ages 13 to 18, brought to life in a staged reading by local actors and directed by Stargazer's co-director, Jim DeVivo.
