(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- The Folk Project's Troubadour Acoustic Concert Series presents Rob Flax's Boom Chick Trio with Don Sarlin on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 7:30pm.  In-person and live webcast tickets are available.

Rob Flax possesses a rare combination of skills: he is an award-winning violinist, classically trained but known for his jazz and improvisational pyrotechnics and irresistible grooves, plus a deep knowledge of American fiddle traditions. He’s also a powerhouse vocalist, capable of silky crooning a la Nat King Cole or visceral Chicago blues shouts, and a consummate songwriter with lyrical depth to complement the instrumental virtuosity.

Rob Flax’s Boom Chick Trio adds guitar, upright bass, and three-part vocals to the mix, elevating Rob’s eclectic originals with intricate instrumental interplay, tight vocal harmonies, and irreverent humor.

Don Sarlin, guitarist and songwriter, began his musical career in his late teens and toured with Van Morrison, David Bromberg, Mary Travers, Esther Phillips, Dean Friedman and others.  He co-founded The TriSonics, an acoustic trio featuring guitar, dobro and bass, with three genre-jumping instrumental albums to date.  He likens his songs to screenplays, capturing characters, a plot, a place and a time, and performs memorable solo guitar instrumentals as well.  He’s also been known to share stories of his remarkable and occasionally terrifying adventures as a kid on the road. He is an exceptional guitarist performing captivating original tunes and memorable solo instrumentals.

Tickets are $20 ($15 for Folk Project members) and available for purchase online (children 12 and under are free with an adult). A live webcast is available for $10. The Folk Project is located at 21 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown, New Jersey.
