(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center presents a screening of the documentary film, Frida Kahlo by Exhibition on Screen, on Sunday, April 13, 2025 at 2:00pm. Take a journey through the life of a true global icon, discover her art, and uncover the truth behind her often turbulent life. Delving deeper than any film has done before, Frida Kahlo engages with world-renowned Kahlo experts and makes use of the latest technology to take an in-depth look at key works throughout her career.

Who was Frida Kahlo? Everyone knows her, but who was the woman behind the bright colors, the big brows, and the floral crowns?

Using letters Kahlo wrote as a guide, this definitive film reveals her deepest emotions and unlocks the secrets and symbolism contained within her art. Exhibition on Screen’s trademark combination of interviews, commentary and a detailed exploration of her art delivers a treasure trove of color and a feast of vibrancy. This personal and intimate film offers privileged access to her works, and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience, and her unmatched lust for life, politics, men and women.

Tickets are $15 for the public and $10 for MAC Members. Tickets are available for purchase online, by phone at 732.706.4100 or at the MAC Box Office. The Middletown Arts Center is located at 36 Church Street in Middletown, New Jersey (next to the Middletown train station). Parking is available onsite with additional free parking available in station metered lot.

2022 represented a milestone for Exhibition on Screen as the award-winning company celebrated a decade of bringing art films to cinemas across the world. It was then in 2023 that it broke box office records with Vermeer: The Greatest Exhibition, which became the highest-grossing art documentary in UK history. Since its launch, Exhibition on Screen has released over 35 films and sold more than six million cinema seats across the globe – from London to Los Angeles, Berlin to Brisbane.

Exhibition on Screen creates cinematic journeys into the personal and creative lives of history’s best-loved artists and their work. Amongst the roster to date are deep dives into the lives and careers of Vermeer, Frida Kahlo, Edward Hopper, Rembrandt, Matisse, Munch and Monet, to name just a few.

The Middletown Arts Center (MAC) is an award-winning, state-of-the-art facility in Middletown, New Jersey that offers performances, exhibits, classes, demonstrations and camps centering on the arts. Its convenient location across from the Middletown train station on Church Street enables easy access and its expanded MAC Annex Education Building is minutes away next to the Middletown Reformed Church. The MAC is operated by a non-profit 501c3, the Middletown Township Cultural and Arts Council dedicated to bringing quality arts programming and events to Middletown and surrounding communities.

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The 45th Bi-Annual New Jersey Film Festival will be taking place between September 4 - October 4, 2026. As they have been doing the last few years, the festival will be presented as a hybrid with select in-person screenings at Rutgers University and most of the films available virtually via Video on Demand for 24 hours on their show date. The festival also be offering an Audio-Visual Concert featuring the bands Lawns and Hanging Coats as well as two FREE Filmmaking Workshops.
