The Summit Playhouse presents "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller

originally published: 02/05/2025

(SUMMIT, NJ) -- The Summit Playhouse presents The Crucible by Arthur Miller from February 21 - March 8, 2025. In a world where fear breeds division and truth is under siege, The Crucible remains as powerful and relevant as ever. Set during the Salem witch trials, this spellbinding drama unravels a web of hysteria, suspicion, and power that shatters lives—while revealing the courage it takes to challenge injustice.

The story focuses upon a young farmer, his wife, and a young servant-girl who maliciously causes the wife's arrest for witchcraft. The farmer brings the girl to court to admit the lie—and it is here that the monsterous course of bigotry and deceipt is terrifyingly depicted. The farmer, instead of saving his wife, finds himself also accused of witchcraft and ultimately condemned with a host of others.

A masterpiece of American theatre, The Crucible grips audiences with its urgent parallels to today’s social and political struggles, leaving you to question the cost of integrity and the strength of standing up for what’s right. It was the recipient of the 1953 Tony Award® for Best Play.

The cast includes Lucy Comerford (Betty Parris), Jim Quickstad (Reverend Samuel Parris), Kylah Wilson (Tituba), Katherine Hope Stelma (Abigail Williams), Ellie Leick (Susanna Walcott), Karen Thornton (Ann Putnam), Joe Lozito (Thomas Putnam), Erin Arnold (Mercy Lewis), Angeline Wedemeier (Mary Warren), Dale Monroe, Jr. (John Proctor), Sharon Garry (Rebecca Nurse), Paul Milord (Giles Corey), Zachary Conner (Reverend John Hale), Monica Ross (Elizabeth Proctor), Robert Loucks (Francis Nurse), Justin Montanaro (Ezekiel Cheever), Brian Madden (John Willard), Terence Burke (Judge Hathorne), Christopher C. Gibbs (Deputy-Governor Danforth), Leslie Schwartz (Sarah Good), Joe Lozito (Hopkins), Leslie Schwartz (Martha Corey - voice), and Liliana Sanchez (Girl of Salem).
