(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 presents Sylvia, a comedy by A. R. Gurney, weekends from February 7-16, 2025. Directed by Christian Confalone, Sylvia is largely about Greg, a middle-aged, empty-nester tired of his finance job and looking for meaning in his life.

He finds an energetic and loveable stray.  Balancing the love of his new canine companion with his wife Kate, join Greg and Sylvia (played by a human) on a fun journey of love, partnership and friendship.

Sylvia is part of Playhouse 22's On the Edge black box series focused on smaller, little-known shows, transforming the traditional stage into a new theatrical experience with the audience sitting on stage, close to the action unlike anything you have ever seen before at the theater.

In the title role, Maria Angela plays "Sylvia" with Mike Johnson as "Greg", Tina Barone as "Kate", with Betsey Milord and Carmen Vasilio Balentine rounding out the cast.

The show runs from February 7-16, 2025 with performances on Friday and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. General admission tickets are $18, and they must be purchased at Playhouse22.org or over the phone at 732-254-3939.  There are no assigned seats.  The theater is conveniently located at the Elliott Taubenslag Theater at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center, 721 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick.

Playhouse 22 is an all-volunteer run community theater located in Central Jersey. The mission of the company is to encourage and nurture participation in the theater arts, promote the educational and communal values of live theater and provide a cultural haven in the community for all the performing arts.

Grant funding has been provided by the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners through a grant award from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund.
