This week's top 15 includes articles from 8 counties in New Jersey  (Atlantic, Bergen, Essex, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Union).

Make sure your events are part of our weekly columns by sending press releases to us at info@newjerseystage.com. Event previews are always one of the most popular areas of the website. Event previews get noticed when we first publish them and then get noticed again when they are brought back to the main area of the site the week the event takes place - sometimes even several months later.  We also run weekly columns promoting events, music, and theatre shows taking place for the week. These columns include our featured event previews and event listings along with all of our event previews of the week. Your events can stand out for as low as $10! Many times, they are among the most read stories of the week. There is no cost for us to run your press releases!

7) Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...1/30/25 - "Let's start with the new poetry book, "Sometimes It's Heaven: Poems of Love, Loss and Redemption," laughed a fabulous sounding Judy Collins. "The new album I'm doing is an album of duets and there are some wonderful features, one of which is a song of David Crosby's called, "Radio" which is a duet with me and Graham (Nash) on a song of David Crosby's. That's one of our starters and then we're doing "Dreamers" as a big choral piece and Michael McDonald songs with me and so on; it's going to be out probably sometime in April. My book of poetry which is called, "Sometimes It's Heaven" is coming out on March 28 and it's a book of 100 poems that I wrote at the behest of my husband a few years ago and they formed this poetry book."

8) Bell Theater brings the music of CSNY, David Bowie and Woodstock in Classic Rock Spring Concert Series - (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Bell Theater at Bell Works is pleased to present three classic rock concerts, bringing a little musical heat to the cold spring months. The tunes of the past are presented at Bell Theater by some of the most exciting local musicians, bringing today's energy to yesterday's classics.

10) Lucrecia Pays Homage to Former Bergen County Resident and Reigning Queen of Salsa, Celia Cruz - "Life is a carnival! It's much more beautiful to live it singing."  If you're unfamiliar with my life's mantra, perhaps you’d recognize it if I were instead to say "la vida es un carnaval, es más bello vivir cantando." Now put a salsa beat under it and add the iconic voice of the Queen herself, Celia Cruz. Sound familiar? One would hope.

15) Emotive short Phantom Limb plays at the New Jersey Film Festival on February 1! - Alice Jokela’s Phantom Limb is an experimental short film that immerses the audience in the emotional journey of navigating trauma and the search for autonomy. The short film centers on Violetta (Shay Yu), a young woman who lost her right arm in an electrical shock accident while tagging in an underground railroad with her boyfriend. With her body forever altered, Vi wrestles to build a sense of identity while coping with the emotional impact of her trauma. In an interview with The New Jersey Film Festival, Jokela expressed her intention to create a film focused on female rage and the overt trauma that often goes overlooked or misunderstood because of the internal, invisible nature of pain. This is reflected in the short film, as those around Vi misperceive her emotional scars. Vi’s story emphasizes how internal trauma can be complex for others to recognize, especially when it’s not immediately visible.
