(SURF CITY, NJ) -- Be part of the revolution that transformed the art of dance from a series of steps to an expression of views. Adults are invited to an "Introduction to Modern Dance" at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch on Thursday, February 13, 2025. The event begins at 2:30pm.

No dance experience is necessary to take part in the beginner workshop led by OCL Long Beach Island Branch Manager Laurence Krupinski. With over 20 years of dance experience, Laurence will guide you through the foundational skills and basic movement of this rich, vibrant dance form.

She will focus on styles pioneered by Martha Graham, Lester Horton, Merce Cunningham and other 20th Century notables who rebelled against the constraints of traditional ballet and created a new, unrestricted type of movement.

Participants should bring a yoga mat or a towel. Waiver forms are required and will be available for completion and signing before the workshop begins.

Please register at https://tinyurl.com/OclLbiDance to take part in this free program. For more information, stop by the OCL Long Beach Island Branch, 217 South Central Avenue, Surf City, or call (609) 494-2480. See the full schedule of Library programs in the online Calendar of Events.
