(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Do you dream of being an author? Have you penned a book but are unsure what to do next? Make 2025 the year that you become a published writer. Seth Fishman, Vice President and Literary Agent of the Gernert Company, will shed light on the first stages of publishing during his Ocean County Library Virtual Author Talk on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The event begins at 1:00pm.
During this special 90-minute web chat, Seth will explain the steps toward publication that begins once you’ve signed with a literary agent. He’ll describe what agents look for; how and when to submit your work to an agent; what to expect after the partnership begins; and what to anticipate before submitting your work to publishing houses, including the revision process. A full 30 minutes will be devoted to questions and answers.
The Gernert Company, based in New York and Los Angeles, is a full-service agency with a client list of more than 500 authors in general and practical nonfiction, children’s literature and graphic novels, and recently began representing podcasters, often collaborating with television and film agents and a wide range of international markets.
Texas native Seth Fishman joined the firm in 2010 after graduating from Princeton University and earning an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England. Among his many books, A Hundred Billion Trillion Stars, The Ocean in Your Bathtub, Power Up, When I Wake Up, The Well’s End and Bad Drawer are available at the Ocean County Library.
