SoundSurge: An Epic Mutual Aid Concert to Hit LBI in February

Published by New Jersey Stage

originally published: 12/29/2024

(LONG BEACH ISLAND, NJ) -- Get ready for a musical revolution this winter! On Sunday, February 16, 2025, Joe Pop's Shore Bar in Ship Bottom will host SoundSurge, a dynamic and unforgettable mutual aid concert event featuring the release of Chris Rockwell's album Rockwell Rebel Radio II, a new single from singer/songwriter Izzy Miz, and the official launch of Soundsmith Records, an Ocean County based black-owned record label created by educator and recording artist Chill Smith. This amped-up celebration will also serve as a goods & supply drive, supporting the community by collecting food and items benefiting local non-profit Bright Harbor Healthcare's Street Outreach Services (SOS) program in Ocean County.

Promising to ignite the winter season with a diverse lineup of nonstop performances and an energetic atmosphere, SoundSurge aims to unite music and art lovers from all walks of life. The evening will also feature artists and creatives in a pop-up vendor market, curated by Soup Can Magazine.

"We're psyched to bring SoundSurge to LBI," explains Chris Rockwell, recording artist of Soundsmith Records. "This event is more than just a concert; it's a night of music, creativity, community, and the power of coming together for a good cause. We want to align this record label with good will in the community from the jump, so that’s what we’re working towards.”

Meanwhile, Chill Smith is set to make local Black History for Black History Month. “The goal behind Soundsmith is simple,” says Smith, “To be a real resource for artists whose voices need to be heard. It’s a place where people can just create without worrying about money, pressure, or being stuck in a toxic studio environment. It’s about building something where everyone involved genuinely wants to succeed.”

SoundSurge will take place at Joe Pop’s Shore Bar, with doors opening at 5:00pm. This is a free event, open to the public. All ages are welcome. Supply donations will be collected at the door.
