The Princeton Folk Music Society presents David Roth on December 13th

originally published: 11/21/2024

(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The Princeton Folk Music Society welcomes back singer-songwriter David Roth on Friday, December 13, 2024 to Christ Congregation Church. David strikes the heart and mind with his unique songs, moving stories, and powerful singing. He is a Princeton Folk Music Society tradition and favorite, this being his sixth performance with them since 1994. Showtime is 8:00pm.

A songwriter's songwriter, David combines a keen social sensibility with dazzling musical ability and a strong voice to produce songs that have been performed by dozens of other top musicians. He's been recorded by the likes of Christine Lavin, Anne Hills, and Tom Chapin. His appearances have ranged from singing the national anthem in front of a sold-out Chicago Bulls/New York Knicks game to intimate house concerts and innumerable workshops to singing for the United Nations, 40th Anniversary celebration.

“David has reached our hearts. With voices like his still singing, there’s a certainty that the candle will remain lit, the hope reasserted and the dream still sung.” — Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul, & Mary)

Tickets and livestream access are available for purchase online or at the door (if not sold-out): $25 ($20 members, $10 students). Doors open at 7:30pm. Christ Congregation Church is located at 50 Walnut Lane in Princeton, New Jersey. Ample free parking.

“David’s pure, smooth voice, unsurpassed instrumental ability, incredible humor, and heart-piercing, intelligent lyrics brought folk music, New Age, comedy club, coffee house, and a bit of heaven all together in one unforgettable evening.” — James van Pelt, New Haven Folk Alliance

From the beginning, David Roth has been a bold and fearless writer of songs. The stories are compelling, the songs are well-crafted, and David continues to take on the real issues that matter to all of us – and he does it with his signature gentle humor and biting wit.” — Matt Watroba, Folk with Matt Watroba, WKAR, East Lansing, Michigan
