(READINGTON TWP, NJ) -- Readington Community Theatre presents Breaking Legs by Tom Dulak weekends from November 15-24, 2024 at The Three Bridges Banquet Hall. Step into the world of dark comedy with Breaking Legs, a hilarious and suspenseful play that expertly blends crime, passion, and pasta.

Set in an Italian restaurant owned by a mob family, the story follows a college professor who unwittingly becomes entangled with the mob while trying to secure funding for his new play. As romantic entanglements and mobster intrigue collide, the professor finds himself in over his head, navigating the comically dangerous waters of organized crime. Breaking Legs is a sharp, witty, and deliciously entertaining production that serves up a feast of laughter and unexpected twists.

Please be advised that this performance contains strong language and themes that may not be suitable for younger audiences. Parental discretion is advised.

The cast includes Mike Johnson (Terence O'Keefe), Jonathan Wierzbicki (Lou Graziano), Kristin Keiser (Angie), Emiliano Cutaneo (Mike Francesco), Joe Zedeny (Tino De Felice), Paul Olson (Frankie Salvucci), and Ronna Hill (Francine). The production is directed by Rob Nonni.

Performances take place Friday, November 15 at 8:00pm; Saturday, November 16 at 8:00pm; Sunday, November 17 at 2:00pm; Friday, November 22 at 8:00pm; Saturday, November 23 at 8:00pm; and Sunday, November 24 at 2:00pm. Playwright Tom Dulack’s plays include Breaking Legs, Incommunicado (Kennedy Center Award for New American Plays), Friends Like These (Kaufman and Hart Prize for New American Comedy), Diminshed Capacity, Solomon's Child, Francis, Just Deserts, 1348, The Elephant and Mrs. Rossetti, and The Flowers Committee. He has published six books, among them the novels The Stigmata of Dr. Constantine and The Misanthropes. Since 2005 he has written and directed more than 40 scripts for the Young Peoples Concerts Series of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. When Readington Community Theatre (RCT) was established in Readington Township in 2007, it chose as its logo a burgundy-colored hot air balloon, decorated with the age-old symbols of theatre - comedy and tragedy masks. Since 1963, Readington has been known as the site of the annual "Festival of Ballooning", held at Solberg Airport. The festival attracts visitors from far and wide, and the theatre wished to identify with this well-known symbol associated with the township.

In its early years, the RC Theatre used the auditoriums in township schools and the Rockaway Reformed Church as venues for presentation of plays and music concert events. In 2011, the RCT reached agreement with the Polish American Citizens Club (PACC) to use its banquet hall to present shows. RCT presented shows at the PACC through 2019, before agreeing to present their 2020 production of Lend Me a Tenor at Stanton Ridge Golf and Country Club.

Twice yearly, spring and fall, the RCT assembles a crew of volunteers who convert our performance venue/banquet room into a real, working theatre. The conversion is remarkable, requiring significant engineering, design and construction expertise. Set and stage materials including riser platforms, wall flats, lighting and sound equipment, costumes and props are stored at a nearby barn owned by the Township of Readington.

The RCT is an independent, non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
