RVCC Concert to Feature Music by Violin Virtuoso, Pianist on December 15th

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- Raritan Valley Community College's Arts & Design department will present "An Afternoon with Korean Violin Virtuoso Dr. Jinyoung Song Featuring Dr. Rachel Yunkyung Choo, Piano," Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 3:00pm. The hourlong event, part of RVCC's MOZAIKA Chamber Music Concert Series, will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College's Branchburg campus.

Korean violinist Dr. Jinyoung Song is celebrated for her technical skill and artistic expression. She earned her undergraduate degree at Kyunghee University on scholarship before pursuing a Master’s Degree at the Manhattan School of Music and a Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music. Dr. Song completed her Doctor of Musical Arts at Rutgers University, focusing her thesis on female composer Amy Beach. A prizewinner at the New York International Music Concours and the Mason Gross Chamber Competition, she has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and other venues. Dr. Song is passionate about education and her students have excelled, performing in all-state orchestras and at festivals.

Praised for her artistry and musical sensitivity, pianist Dr. Rachel Yunkyung Choo has enjoyed a vibrant career as a soloist and chamber musician. The New York Sun described her Lincoln Center debut as “perfect,” showcasing her confident playing, while The New York Times noted she “stood out” in a Carnegie Hall performance. A Seoul native, Dr. Choo debuted at the Kumho Arts Hall at age 12 and has since performed at such venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Seoul Arts Center. She holds degrees from The Juilliard School, the Peabody Institute, and Rutgers University, and currently teaches at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.

General admission tickets cost $15 each; admission is free for seniors and students. For advance ticket reservations, contact the RVCC Theatre Box Office at 908-725-3420. Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) is located at 118 Lamington Road in Branchburg, New Jersey.
